What is the reason behind your crèche's name?

The meaning of Ithemba in English is hope. We want to bring hope to our community.

What are you grateful for about your crèche?

We are grateful that the primary school give good reports of the children that come from our Educare.

Mission and Vision

Through its people, the teachers, parents and the community, we shall serve and strive to be the best Educare Centre.

We are committed to early childhood development, safety, love, security and good health.

Our focus is to maintain consistent quality Educare, open and honest communication, respect and giving hope to the children.

What extra services do you offer to the children of your crèche?

  • transport to and from the crèche
  • daily meals during crèche hours
  • school excursions

What are the most important needs/prayer requests regarding your crèche right now?

Please pray:

  • for reliable, honest, hardworking teachers who work at my crèche first and foremost, not for the money, but because of a calling to work with children. Please pray that God will provide such teachers.
  • that my neighbour will agree to tear down the vibracrete wall between us and build a decent wall 1against which the stairs to the proposed upper floor can be built and 2to keep away the flies that come over from their yard to my crèche.
  • that the plan to expand the house in which the crèche is currently housed, will come into effect and for the right architect to draw up the above need's building plans.
  • for finances to pay the architect as well as for the building project.

Parent Feedback

  • My name is Shireen Begg. I am a parent of a toddler at Ithemba Educare. Kashief Daames has been attending the Educare since before the age of 1 and I can honestly say that he has excelled in many aspects. By the age of 1½ yrs., Kashief could speak and we were able to make out what he says. Before the age of 2 yrs., he was off the diapers. Kashief is currently 3 yrs. 5 mths. and every day we are amazed by his progress. He knows almost all of his colours, sings the alphabet, counts clearly until ten and also knows the days of the week. Kashief has a sister of 11 yrs. old that also attended Ithemba Educare. She started at the crèche when she was 3 yrs. old until she had to go to grade R. Unfortunately, she could not complete her last year due to us having to move. But the time she has been with Ithemba Educare, she has learnt well. Every term, we as parents, are notified regarding our children's progress. As a mother of 2 children that went to Ithemba Educare (one still attending), I speak from experience; I would highly recommend Ithemba Educare. I know that our children's education is very important to Ithemba Educare and I truly appreciate the teachers for going the extra mile.
  • My name is Bridget Swarts. I am one of the ex-parents of Ithemba Educare. My son Eli Swarts attended the centre from 2021 – 2024 (till Feb.) until he went to school. The principal is a go getter and always goes the extra mile. She also instils that in her teachers. Everything they do, is for the benefit of the child and to ensure parents have a sense of assurance when leaving their child at Ithemba Educare. I was so impressed on how quickly my son got off the nappy when he first got there. The level of work ethics is top notch and they don’t play with the children’s future. Everything they do is to ensure that the kids develop emotionally and physically. My child was still at crèche from Jan. to Feb. this year because he was not accepted at school for this year. Miraculously principal Christine found out about schools that still had availability and got in contact with me. She did all the applications on behalf of the parents and our kid got accepted. That is one example of the ‘extra mile’ I’m talking about. I’m so glad to have come across Ithemba Educare and so grateful that my grandchild can also attend the centre.
  • I am Jace Hendrickse’s mother. He started to attend Ithemba Educare at the age of 2 yrs. He was still on diapers and for some time he couldn't speak at all and was referred to a speech therapist. But thanks to Ithemba Educare, he went off the diapers and started talking very well. Even his writing has improved a lot. I am very happy with his progress at the ECD. I am MOST thankful that they treat each child equally with love and respect. I would refer Ithemba Educare to anyone. There were times it was hard to pay the crèche, but they motivated me and told me that education is important for my son’s future. I just want to say thank you to all the support the crèche has given me. Thank you Ithemba Educare.
