What is the reason behind your school’s name?

A sunflower is always looking at the sun as its source of energy and it is always standing tall. So are we looking at our Source of energy and always standing tall. A sunflower is also a happy colour. Our children are still small, like flower buds.

What are you grateful for about your school?

• growth – we expanded to the garage
• the teachers and good relationships with the parents
• the positivity of and hunger in the children
• the peace we have, because we use the time God gives us wisely

Vision

Sunflower Educare exists for the holistic development of Delft's children while also empowering the parents by continuation to form a supportive partnership with the child and teacher.

Sunflower Educare aims to be a facility that reaches across socio-economic divides to bring quality education to the children of Delft to the betterment of our society as a whole.

Mission

• to promote and provide a safe learning space for children between the ages of 1 and 6
• to promote a healthy development lifestyle for both parents and their children
• to provide care and guidance, while stimulating a desire for lifelong learning in children
• to train children in servant leadership, problem solving, and communication skills
• to network and collaborate with other organizations working to promote the holistic well-being of the child

What extra services do you offer to the children of your school?

• transport to and from the school
• daily meals (breakfast + lunch) during school hours

What are the most important needs/prayer requests regarding your school right now?

• We need a bigger plot/place for our school.
• My main teacher also needs to leave the crèche due to sickness in her family. Please pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit to know how to handle matters regarding my staff now.
• Pray that we will make progress w. r. t. the process to fulfil all the requirements regarding the registration of the crèche with the Dep. of Ed. for the sake of funding. Praise God that the issue regarding a fine that had to be paid w. r. t. the rezoning of the premises, was resolved.
• We desire to see a change in our income in relation to crèche fees payable by the children's parents - some of the parents fall into arrears with their payments and some children just doesn’t come anymore. This puts strain on the management of the crèche.
• Continue to pray for our protection.
• We need wisdom to accommodate, as a Christian-based ECD centre, children from families with other religious beliefs to install godly knowledge into our children as well as their parents.
• Pray that we can be like a family, i. e., having a holistic approach where we not only help the children at our school, but also their parents where needed.
