Toolkits for Crèches

paula — Tue, 11 Oct 2022 11:55:20 +0000

AmazingBrainz has a “toolkit” they developed that forms a crucial part of their learning programme and that gets used daily as part of the learning process in the class. The “toolkit” contains various educational toys that are used and applied in different learning activities (multi-purpose). These activities are developed and adapted to bring their learning programme over the year alive and make learning accessible and joyful for small children. The content of “toolkit” is well thought through to enhance learning but also to last in order to serve many children year after year as the items are practical and hardy. In December 2021 we have started with a new group of 80 educators from 20 Delft ECD schools.

This “toolkit” is an incredible investment into a community if placed into the hands of an AmazingBrainz trained educator. With this we want to invite you to sponsor a “toolkit” or make a donation towards such a toolkit(s). The cost per toolkit is R3 800 per teacher.

Principal Camp 2020

paula — Mon, 10 Oct 2022 21:03:06 +0000

27 -29 November 2020 the Principals of the 17 creches we currently support with ECD training in Delft were invited to join Shofar Christian Church Durbanville on a camp near Tulbagh. The reason behind this was to celebrate these wonderful ladies and share in the goodness and love of God after a challenging 2020. It kicked of with a lovely experience with horses with Sucelle Erasmus from Unlocking You.
Friday afternoon after some lunch and “kuier” at the Shofar Durbanville office everyone went to the campsite.
Mike Moerdyk leaded the weekend with so much wisdom and love for these ladies. Everyone came back tired but refreshed, because nobody wanted to miss out on anything!
After a wonderful weekend we are once again reminded that God makes a way and He has a plan for these wonderful people in Delft. We are honoured and blessed to be part of a project like this.

Toy drive 2019

paula — Mon, 10 Oct 2022 11:40:17 +0000

On the 4th of December 2019 a group of approximately a 100 volunteers came together to wash, sow, fix and build previously loved toys donated by the Durbanville community. We were blown away by the quality and quantity of toys dropped. Relationships were strengthened and joyful hope imparted when we delivered these toys to the different creches in Delft.
Cynthia (one of the principals): “Woow!!! The kids are so over the moon with joy for the toys. We thank you very much.”

Amazing Brainz Training

paula — Mon, 10 Oct 2022 09:53:32 +0000

July 2018 we embarked on a journey to reach and serve the children of Delft, Cape Town through curriculum training of ECD principals and educators provided by Amazing Brainz.

With our first round, we worked with 18 schools and 76 educators. The first group has finished their training and their schools are flourishing after the journey of more than two years with Amazing Brainz. We have already begun training our second group in Delft and our hope is to take 80 more educators through the curriculum training.

Our vision is the following:

For the future of the children: To provide a strong academic foundation for preschool children in Delft through curriculum training presented to principals and educators at established ECD centres and so better prepare the children in their care for success at school and ultimately to build stronger careers as adults.
To support the building of sustainable quality businesses: To assist ECD centres to provide quality education and to assist and guide in the process of registration at The Department of Social Development in order for the ECD centres to receive the social grant from government with which they can subsidize their school and maintain their infrastructure and so build a sustainable business without over populating their centres and compromising of quality education.

Covid Response

Kayla — Wed, 23 Jun 2021 12:19:34 +0000

The ‘Delft ECD Project’ started 2020 with clear objectives.
All these dreams and objectives however came to a grinding halt when Covid-19 struck.

After regrouping and realizing our mandate would change in this time of crisis, we perceived with thankful hearts that a figurative ark had been build, ready to shelter a small community of creche educators and their children from the brutal impact COVID-19 would have on them financially and practically.
We, due to willing hands and generous donors could respond and reach out to these beautiful women and children in their time of need.

Food vouchers, food parcels and three soup kitchens varying in size served a community of over a thousand individuals. More than R750 000 was poured into Delft to feed and encourage those we have grown to know and love over the last few years.

Despite the challenges 2020 brought we are thankful that some of our objectives and dreams were achieved and our motivation is stronger than ever to see how we can serve the ECD community of Delft going forward.
